Young blonde me version 1.0 with the final Spinosaurus 1/16 scale maquette I painted.
The final Spinosaurus maquette I painted for JP3.
I painted the tongues and mouth palettes for the Pteranodon puppets. Here I'm securing the foam latex mouth palette into the fiberglass head shell.
While working on the mouth palette and tongue, mechanical engineer Kan Ikeuchi makes sure the tongue moves organically by pulling on the rigged cables that will flex it once connected to the servos.
Me and artists Andy Schoneberg and Greg Figiel discuss the fabrication of the baby Pteranodon puppets.
Attaching the wing "skin" onto the baby pteranodon arms and trying to make sure they don't get unnatural kinks and folds while it moves.

Trevor L. Hensley, John Cherevka and I painted nearly the entire Spinosaurus body and legs.
We had to circle around this beast to paint each side but each section was on a wheeled platform to allow us to swing them to align and match parts and styles while viewing the 5th scale maquette "master" (painted by Joey Orosco) we used as constant reference.
The puppet was so huge the skins it had to be created in separate parts.
Lead artist on this dino, Joey Orosco painting the Spinosaurus head and neck while I paint on the body and legs with Trevor L. Hensley and John Cherevka.
Painting the female Velociraptor puppet with Trevor L. Hensley
Trevor paints an insert head while I work on the full raptor puppet.
Checking the master raptor bust (off screen) as I paint the female raptor.
The MANY cables and hoses that will allow the puppet operate extend from the belly and are wrapped to protect them while we paint.
The master painted head is in the foreground while Trevor and I paint the male Velociraptor animatronic puppet.
Joey Orosco, Trevor Hensley and I team up to paint details onto the male raptor puppet.
Adding the final details to the male velociraptor puppet skin.
